University of Windsor's 100% Grading Scale
In accordance with the Senate resolution of June 10, 2011, the University will adopt a 100% grading scale effective Fall 2013. This has been reflected in all Senate policies and regulations as of September 1, 2013 and in the undergraduate and graduate calendars.
The current and past Grading Key is found at the Office of the Registrar's site http://www.uwindsor.ca/registrar/529/grading-key along with other codes that may be found in a student's transcript.
Using 5 Point Intervals
Question: If I wanted to use a 5 point grade interval, what should I do in cases where an item grade falls in-between the intervals (e.g., a multiple choice test with a quantity of questions not divisible by five, or when grading presentations or papers where I used to assign a letter grade)?
Answer: In this type of situation, you could either use the full percentage range ex. 77%, or round up to the next interval of 5. Please remember to include your grading scheme in your syllabus, to make sure that it is clear to your students, what approach you will be doing. The final result needs to be out of 100, expressed in whole numbers. Blackboard has the ability to customize a grading schema within the Grade Centre. For more information, see the Grading Schema article.
